This month NCC 2022 was adopted with many changes coming into effect as of 1 May. Further changes will be applicable from 1 October as part of the transition arrangements of this edition of the NCC.
If you’re looking to learn more about the changes and how to apply the NCC, visit our Understanding NCC 2022 article to find links to resources and more.
Public record of the April Board meeting
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability, we will be publishing high level summaries of each Board meeting.
The Board of the ABCB met in March, with a follow up discussion some items in April. You can read the summary of these Board meetings on the Public record of Board meetings page.
I also encourage you to read our new Charter of Transparency and Engagement to learn about this and other activities we are undertaking to build and maintain community trust and confidence.
Public Forum
One of ways of increasing community engagement will be through an open forum to be held each year, with interested people able to attend in person or online.
We are planning the first open public forum to be held in the second half of this year, so please keep an eye on our website and social media for more details. At the forum, the Chair and I will be available to talk about any aspect of our work – and we look forward to your questions and comments.
What is being planned for the next edition of the NCC?
With NCC 2022 being such a large set of changes, many people ask me what we’re working on for the next edition.
The first thing I’d say – it is likely to be a much smaller set of changes! We recognise the importance of giving industry time and space to get the implementation right on NCC 2022.
Commercial energy efficiency, condensation, electric vehicles and waterproofing are some of the key subjects that we’re continuing our work on.
I anticipate that our full business plan for the next year will be finalised in the 3-4 weeks and published soon after. Please watch for my June message for more information about that and a summary of the key dates heading towards the next update.
Regards
Gary
